My University life

It is said that joining university is one of your biggest educational milestone and this is one of every determined students dream. I completed my high school and my I thought my future was already layer out for me, little did I know the surprises that were awaiting for me. As I struggled with decisions on which carrier path I should take, I made a difficult yet exciting decision to take a year and explore on different carrier opportunities and boom I discovered an unseen love and passion for journalism. Following my sixth sense I decided to join media and communications and the growth that has spured since that day that has rejuvenating.

Started university hunting and visited a couple of them .
I enrolled myself  at TUM  and boom covid hit and lockdown and was scheduled for online classes. This was the first bump i faced and it because i preferred one on one teaching, hence differed my first semester and joined when  lockdown was lifted and classes resumed.  My first class was epic and this made me realize that choosing what i chose was the best decision ever. I got to meet my friends and people from different culture , diversity and personalities. New world that i was going to live in for the period of time that my course was going to take and it was wonderful. 

Different units throughout the semesters have taught me different things and lessons , most of them have opened my eyes towards how i see the media and the myths around it.  I attended every class and socialized as much as i can. Went to attachment and saw a glimpse of the world that am preparing myself to conquer. learned  to work with others and enjoy myself doing so thou it was not all easy .

Together with my friend we`ve come up with many ideas and worked together in many project , done research together and went to the field together as a teams . We`ve encouraged and supported one another. 
In  campus i was able to own my first ever press card  and this gave me privileges as a media student that not only wonderful but also helpful. i remember calling everyone at home and bragging about it ,  Saying am already a qualified journalist. 
 
In uni i can say i have gotten my freedom and overcome my fears,  learnt new lessons and explored  adventures , challenged myself and saved  myself  from many things . My experience has been smooth and bumpy at the same time, not always a bed of roses ,and all of this is life for which am learning everyday , and appreciating God.
My life in campus is so far from over as i am planning to expand and learn more and loveing every step of the way and all of this begun with the first step that i took , and truly its said that a journey of thousand miles begins with one step .

Rethinking Urban Resilience

From Colonial Drainage Systems To Climate-Smart Cities As floodwaters in Nairobi begin to recede the focus should now shift from emergency response to long-term solutions. Kenya needs to start addressing the root causes of urban flooding instead of relying on temporary fixes that only work in the moment. One major issue is the city’s outdated drainage system  much of which dates back to the colonial era. At the time  this system was designed for a much smaller population and limited urban expansion. Today Nairobi has grown rapidly  but the infrastructure has not kept up with this growth  making flooding almost inevitable during heavy rains. To deal with this  the government must invest in modern drainage systems that can handle current and future rainfall patterns.
